Farsi keyboard
Type in Persian with your own keyboard or by tapping the keys. Standard Iranian layout, nothing to install.
Rather type in English letters?
Write Finglish (salam chetori) and watch it turn into Persian as you type.
How the Persian keyboard is laid out
The keys follow Iran’s national standard layout, ISIRI 9147, which Windows calls Persian (Standard), so what you learn here works on any computer. The half space is Shift + Space, the top row types Persian digits, and the short-vowel marks (fatha, kasra, damma, shadda) are on Shift with the Q to I keys.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I type in Farsi on an English keyboard?
Type in the box on this page: it turns your keys into Persian letters using the standard Iranian layout, so H types ا and F types ب. Press Esc to switch between Persian and English.
How do I type a half space (nim-fasele)?
Press Shift + Space, or tap Half space. It joins the parts of a word without a full space, as in میخواهم.
Can I type in Finglish instead?
Yes. On our Finglish to Farsi page, type salam chetori and it becomes سلام چطوری as you type.
How do I type Persian numbers?
The number row types Persian digits (۱۲۳). Shift + 4 gives the rial sign ﷼.
Why are there two kinds of ی and ک?
Persian ی and ک differ from the Arabic ي and ك, and search engines treat them as different letters. This keyboard types the Persian ones; the Arabic forms are on Shift + D and Shift + Z.
Is my text saved?
Only in your own browser, so it’s still there if you reload. Nothing you type is sent to us.
